Last Friday Jeni and I had gone out to a friends and had a nice dinner (Jeni cooked most of it, so you know it was nice) and at some point, I noticed I had either nicked or pinched my finger near my wedding band. On the ride home, Jeni said it looked a little swollen and my ring was aggravating the spot, so we figured we should just slip the ring off and let my finger settle down. The problem -- at some point in the last 10 years, it seems I've gained a little weight. So my wedding band didn't want to come off. We ran it under cold water, submerged it in ice water, lotioned it up, pulled, wiggled, wrapped in ribbon, squeezed, rocked ... you name it, we tried it. Saturday, Jeni started to get concerned that this would hurt my finger and we would have to cut the ring off. We were actually on our way and we decided to give it some time -- my finger wasn't purple yet. Well, last night, with the help of some vaseline, grit and determination, Jeni managed to wiggle the ring beyond the swelling and over my knuckle and off. It feels weird not having a wedding ring on for the first time in 10 years (I'd only taken it off in public when I was going to the gym so it wouldn't get scarred up), so I guess we'll be ring shopping soon. Need to get another one on soon so the ladies don't get ideas (ha!) ...

Tumor removal II
Unfortunately the abdominal tumor is malignant. I have very few details right now, but please everyone keep this little girl and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Gas price map
Right-click on the map to see gas prices by county (zoom in for zip code) to find the best gas prices. Suddenly things don't look so bad in South Carolina ... ninth lowest in the nation ($2.801) and Columbia 17th at $2.817, just a few behind Knoxville. (Complete list)

Tumor removal
My boss sent around an email about one of his daughter's best friends. She's in fifth grade and is having surgery to remove a tumor today -- her birthday, of all days. I don't know any details about what kind of tumor, location or if it is benign or malignant. They were asking for prayers and healing thoughts. Her surgery is at 1:00 this afternoon. I just couldn't imagine being in fifth grade and having to worry with something this grave. I can't even remember what was a big deal to me in fifth grade except a broken wrist and the Thriller album...

Wandering the web
Look what I found wandering the web. I started at Brite Blue Dot (warning: liberal website) and clicked Drink at Work (because the name is just so intriguing) and found the very funny comics Teenage Girl President and Medium Large. Drink at Work also has some really nice photos. And yes, to answer your question, Fridays need to get busier at work!
Snoring
This Close to Home couldn't have had better timing... It appears that I have started snoring. I guess I was real bad last night. I'm not happy about this. Jeni is even less happy ...

Positive Affirmations
I really enjoy the Story People and get a Story of the Day emailed to me each day. I really like this one from the other day...
"Remember to use positive affirmations. I am not a dork is not one of them."

Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Taxes are done, one check written, everything signed, sealed up, and off to the post office. I've had them done for awhile, but didn't want to pay my uncle the money until the last minute.

Gracie shows her TRUE colors
Lisa's daughter may be brainwashed with Clemson hype, but in this video you see her true colors. A little Virginia Tech Hokie dress and a sweet smile and wave got her on the local Bluefield news. Click this link, then click on the camera icon above the picture to see Gracie the celebrity!

Powerball
I don't think I really delude myself into thinking that I will win Powerball, but at $220 million (nine digits!) I can't help but invest a couple of dollars in South Carolina's "education" lottery. I think the education is in probability right now...

Dancing video game
Now this kid has played this game a few too many times ... I just wish I saw what his score was.
Lightsabers
It's no George Michael in the garage with a curtain rod, but this is a pretty amazing lightsaber duel. Give credit to Ryan Wieber and Michael "Dorkman" Scott. It's fun, well done, and kind of humorous. Plus I like that Pat Wieber makes it in the credits for "Transportation/Facilitator" -- yeah mom!
